THE ITALIAN SUPPORT TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Sarajevo, 9th November 2018. The Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo and the Higher Institute for Conservation and Restoration of Rome (ISCR) are glad to announce that on 9th November at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina will take place the seminar “THE ITALIAN SUPPORT TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA”, that will illustrate the training activities realized by ISCR since 2016.
This will be the final event of the three-year training project dedicated to the Museum staff, developed in the framework of the cultural cooperation between Italy and Bosnia Herzegovina, organized in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as the Embassy of Italy locally.
The seminar will illustrate the results of the restoration works realized during the training activities on metal artifacts (2016), on archaeological and ethnographic artifacts in wood (2017), and on ceramic ones (2018) from museum collections, among which the rare are prehistoric boat from Donja Dolina and important objects in bronze and ceramic.
Moreover, thanks to the intense collaboration between ISCR and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a new “Conservation and restoration department” has been established, equipped with advanced technical and scientific instruments, where the technical staff of the Museum will continue the conservation and restoration works started with the Italian support.
