Venerdi, 25 settembre 2026, , insieme al Capo della Delegazione dell’UE/Rappresentante Speciale dell’UE, Amb. Luigi Soreca, e agli Ambasciatori e rappresentanti diplomatici delle Ambasciate di tutti gli Stati membri dell’UE in Bosnia-Erzegovina, l’Ambasciatrice Castellani ha visitato il Memoriale di Srebrenica-Potočari, rendendo omaggio alle vittime del genocidio e incontrando le Madri di Srebrenica.
Come ricordato dal Ministro degli Affari Esteri 🇮🇹 Antonio Tajani in occasione dell’ultimo anniversario del genocidio, da trentuno anni le Madri di Srebrenica chiedono verità e giustizia “con una dignità che commuove il mondo”. Il Ministro ha sottolineato che Srebrenica ha rappresentato “uno dei più gravi fallimenti della comunità internazionale” e “rimane, ancora oggi, un potente monito”. Per questo motivo, “la memoria non è una mera formalità: è un dovere. Ricordare significa raccontare la verità senza compromessi. Significa respingere ogni forma di negazionismo che offende le vittime e avvelena il futuro”.

On Friday, 25 September 2026, together with the EU HoD/EUSR, Amb. Luigi Soreca, and Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives of all EU Member States’ Embassies in BiH, Amb. Castellani visited the Srebrenica Memorial in Potočari, paid respects to the victims of the genocide and met with the Mothers of Srebrenica.
As Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani recalled on the occasion of the latest anniversary of the genocide, for thirty-one years the Mothers of Srebrenica have been calling for truth and justice “with a dignity that moves the world”. He stressed that Srebrenica marked “one of the international community’s gravest failures” and “remains, to this day, a powerful warning”. That is why “remembrance is not a mere formality: it is a duty. Remembering means telling the truth without compromise. It means rejecting every form of denialism that insults the victims and poisons the future”.
