Sarajevo, 24 marzo 2026 \u2013 In un importante passo verso il rafforzamento della riduzione del rischio di catastrofi e della resilienza delle comunit\u00e0, l\u2019Ambasciatrice d\u2019Italia, S.E. Sarah Eti Castellani<\/strong>, insieme ai rappresentanti dell\u2019Organizzazione Internazionale per le Migrazioni (OIM) e in collaborazione con l\u2019Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (AICS), ha ufficialmente consegnato attrezzature del valore di 385.000 KM alle unit\u00e0 di protezione civile in tutta la Bosnia ed Erzegovina. Le cerimonie ufficiali di consegna si sono svolte presso l\u2019Amministrazione Federale della Protezione Civile a Sarajevo e l\u2019Amministrazione Repubblicana della Protezione Civile a Isto\u010dno Sarajevo. All\u2019evento hanno partecipato i rappresentanti delle unit\u00e0 di protezione civile di Maglaj, Konjic, \u010capljina, Zenica, Ljubu\u0161ki, Tomislavgrad, Srebrenik, Doboj, Nevesinje e Prijedor<\/strong>, tutti beneficiari delle nuove attrezzature.<\/p>\n

Finanziata dal Governo italiano tramite AICS, questa donazione rappresenta una componente chiave dell\u2019iniziativa pi\u00f9 ampia \u201cRafforzamento delle capacit\u00e0 locali per la preparazione e la risposta alle catastrofi\u201d. Il progetto, del valore di 1,3 milioni di KM, mira a sostenere 21 comuni del Paese, con l\u2019obiettivo di costruire comunit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 sicure e resilienti. Le attrezzature includono strumenti per la lotta agli incendi, alpinismo e radiocomunicazioni, nonch\u00e9 equipaggiamenti per il soccorso in caso di alluvioni e kit per il coordinamento nei campi.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Ambasciatrice d\u2019Italia in Bosnia ed Erzegovina, S.E. Sarah Eti Castellani<\/strong>, ha sottolineato l\u2019importanza della collaborazione internazionale:<\/p>\n

\u201cL\u2019Italia resta un partner solido della Bosnia ed Erzegovina nel rafforzamento delle capacit\u00e0 istituzionali, nel miglioramento della sicurezza delle comunit\u00e0 e nel sostegno alla resilienza a tutti i livelli. Investendo nei primi soccorritori, investiamo nella sicurezza e nella resilienza delle comunit\u00e0 in tutto il Paese. Siamo fiduciosi che le attrezzature consegnate oggi saranno utilizzate in modo efficace e responsabile, contribuendo a una Bosnia ed Erzegovina pi\u00f9 sicura e resiliente.\u201d<\/p>\n

A nome dell\u2019OIM, il Vice Capo Missione Michael J.F. O’Mahony<\/strong> ha evidenziato la natura in evoluzione della preparazione alle catastrofi:<\/p>\n

\u201cLe catastrofi stanno diventando sempre pi\u00f9 frequenti e complesse, pertanto anche la preparazione deve evolversi. Attraverso iniziative come questa, l\u2019OIM sposta l\u2019attenzione da una risposta reattiva a una preparazione sistemica, investendo in strumenti, competenze e coordinamento prima che si verifichino le emergenze. Questa attrezzatura \u00e8 pi\u00f9 di una semplice donazione: \u00e8 parte di un approccio globale che include formazione e coordinamento. Siamo profondamente grati al Governo italiano e ai nostri partner locali, con i quali condividiamo l\u2019obiettivo di rafforzare la resilienza delle comunit\u00e0 sviluppando capacit\u00e0 per una risposta tempestiva e coordinata alle catastrofi.\u201d<\/p>\n

Majda Kova\u010d<\/strong>, in rappresentanza dell\u2019Amministrazione Federale della Protezione Civile, ha sottolineato l\u2019impatto a livello municipale:<\/p>\n

\u201cRingraziamo sinceramente i nostri partner italiani per aver dato priorit\u00e0 ai nostri reali bisogni e per la stretta collaborazione con le unit\u00e0 locali di protezione civile \u2013 le attrezzature sono assegnate in base alle esigenze specifiche delle comunit\u00e0 locali, rafforzando la resilienza dove \u00e8 pi\u00f9 necessario.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u017deljko Jankovi\u0107<\/strong>, in rappresentanza dell\u2019Amministrazione Repubblicana della Protezione Civile, ha aggiunto:<\/p>\n

\u201cLe attrezzature distribuite oggi rispondono direttamente ai bisogni individuati dai comuni e convalidati dalle amministrazioni della protezione civile. Questo approccio collaborativo garantisce che il supporto sia pratico, pertinente e immediatamente utilizzabile durante le emergenze. Siamo orgogliosi della forte collaborazione dimostrata e la consideriamo un modello per future iniziative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mario Bajto<\/strong>, del Servizio di Protezione Civile e Antincendio della Citt\u00e0 di Ljubu\u0161ki, ha espresso la propria gratitudine a nome dei beneficiari diretti delle donazioni, ovvero le unit\u00e0 locali di protezione civile come servizi di primo intervento, sottolineando che dotare adeguatamente i team locali \u00e8 fondamentale per migliorare la sicurezza delle comunit\u00e0.<\/p>\n

Il progetto \u201cRafforzamento delle capacit\u00e0 locali per la preparazione e la risposta alle catastrofi\u201d viene attuato in 21 comunit\u00e0 locali in entrambe le entit\u00e0 e nel Distretto di Br\u010dko, fornendo attrezzature, formazione, simulazioni e pianificazione di emergenza per i team di protezione civile. L\u2019OIM, l\u2019AICS e l\u2019Ambasciata d\u2019Italia hanno ribadito il loro impegno condiviso per una collaborazione continua e per il rafforzamento della resilienza a lungo termine delle comunit\u00e0. Tutte le attrezzature sono fornite in collaborazione con le Amministrazioni Federale e Repubblicana della Protezione Civile, in base ai bisogni individuati dai comuni beneficiari. Il progetto, del valore di 1,3 milioni di BAM, mira a creare comunit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 sicure e resilienti in Bosnia ed Erzegovina.<\/p>\n

Italy Donates 385,000 KM in Equipment to Civil Protection to Enhance Disaster Preparedness in Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sarajevo, 24 March 2026 \u2013 <\/strong>In a significant step towards strengthening disaster risk reduction and enhancing community resilience, the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Sarah Eti Castellani<\/strong>, along with representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and in partnership with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), has officially handed over equipment valued at 385,000 KM to civil protection units throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The official handover ceremonies were held at the Federal Administration of Civil Protection in Sarajevo and the Republic Administration of Civil Protection in Isto\u010dno Sarajevo. Representatives from the civil protection units of Maglaj, Konjic, \u010capljina, Zenica, Ljubu\u0161ki, Tomislavgrad, Srebrenik, Doboj, Nevesinje, and Prijedor<\/strong>, all recipients of the new equipment, attended the events.<\/p>\n

Funded by the Government of Italy through AICS, this donation is a key part of the broader initiative, \u201cStrengthening Local Capacities for Disaster Preparedness and Response.\u201d The 1.3 million KM project aims to support 21 municipalities within the country, with a focus on building safer and more resilient communities. The equipment includes firefighting, mountaineering, and radio-communication tools, as well as flood rescue equipment and camp coordination kits.<\/p>\n

Ambassador of Italy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Sarah Eti Castellani,<\/strong> emphasized the importance of international partnership: \u201cItaly remains a steadfast partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina in strengthening institutional capacities, enhancing community safety, and supporting resilience at all levels. By investing in first responders, we invest in the safety and resilience of communities across the country. We are confident that the equipment delivered today will be used effectively and responsibly, contributing to a safer and more resilient Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

On behalf of IOM, Deputy Chief of Mission, Michael J.F. O’Mahony, <\/strong>highlighted the evolving nature of disaster preparedness: \u201cDisasters are becoming more frequent and complex, so preparedness must evolve as well. Through initiatives like this, IOM shifts the focus from reactive response to systemic preparedness by investing in tools, skills, and coordination before emergencies occur. This equipment is more than just a donation: it is part of a comprehensive approach that includes training and coordination. We are deeply grateful to the Italian Government and our local partners, with whom we share the goal of reinforcing community resilience by building capacity for timely and coordinated disaster response<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

This collaborative approach ensures that the support is practical, relevant, and immediately useful during emergencies. We are proud of the strong partnership demonstrated here and see it as a model for future initiatives.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Mario Bajto, <\/strong>from the Civil Protection and Firefighting Service of the City of Ljubu\u0161ki, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the direct recipients of the donations, namely, the local civil protection units as first response services – and emphasized that equipping local teams is crucial for improving community safety.<\/p>\n

The \u201cStrengthening Local Capacities for Disaster Preparedness and Response\u201d project is being implemented in 21 local communities across both entities and the Br\u010dko District, providing equipment, training, simulations, and contingency planning for civil protection teams. IOM, AICS, and the Italian Embassy reaffirmed their shared commitment to ongoing collaboration and long-term community resilience. All equipment is provided in cooperation with the Federal and Republic Civil Protection Administrations, according to the needs identified by beneficiary municipalities. The project, valued at 1.3 million BAM, aims to create safer and more resilient communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n
